ABOUT

I AM NURSE ROSE

Arlene Aretha Rose, known professionally as Nurse Rose, is a Board-Certified Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). Prior to psychiatry, Arlene honed her skills as a critical care registered nurse in the Neuro-Trauma ICU at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. A first-generation American, Arlene's mother hails from St.Lucia, and her father from Jamaica, West Indies. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.


Driven by a passion to make a difference, Arlene embarked on her nursing journey early, becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at 17, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at 19, and Registered Nurse (RN) at 21. In 2016, she achieved her goal of becoming an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Currently pursuing a PhD in Psychology, Arlene has dedicated more than half of her life to nursing and plans to devote the rest to improving mental wellness and suicide prevention in her community.


In 2018, Arlene published her first book, "Where Do Roses Grow Up? «The Rose Yarde," a narrative of resilience complemented by an adult coloring book, available on Amazon. Relocating to the Houston area in 2022 with her six children, Arlene passionately cultivates various rose species in her garden at The Rose Yarde, her home office.
Arlene's professional endeavors focus on combating mental health stigmas and raising awareness about rising rates of suicidality, with a mission to prevent suicide attempts. She owns and operates The Rose Yarde, a virtual mental health practice, holds a Master's Degree in Nursing Education, and is Post Master's Degree prepared. Arlene is certified as a Board-Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), and Public Health Nurse (PHN), bringing eight years of psychiatry experience with children, adolescents, and adults.
